The "Decca Audition Tapes," aka "Decca audition tapes," are now available. The Decca audition was held on New Year's Day, January 1, 1962, at Decca's studio in London, and has been the subject of numerous collector's item releases. Unless it is released officially, there will be nothing that surpasses this album. A brief history of the Decca audition tapes can be traced back to 1973, when the CBM label first released "Love of the Loved" from this source under the title L.S. Bumble Bee. However, the sound quality was poor, and it was not until the DECCAGONE singles series produced by a US fan club in 1978 that it became available in anything close to its current form. These are still considered to be the best quality recordings available today, with seven beautifully colored sleeved color vinyl singles, and later non-label single-sided singles, for a total of 15 tracks that have been preserved to this day. Naturally, an LP of the 15 DECCAGONE singles was also released from tape recordings, but the sound quality was slightly inferior to the original singles due to the generation loss of the master by pseudo-stereo conversion. In the 90's, while CDs were being released, items that had not been analog-dropped appeared on the market. Although there were some flaws in the content, such as tape sagging and too fast pitch, VIGOTONE released the YD version and a CD with the audio slowed down and copied from the YD version, and then released a copy of the audio that was copied from the YD version. These other CD items are not available on the above mentioned CDs. The YD pitch-corrected reissue is simply a slowed-down version of the first master, with no upgrade in sound quality. The misterclaudel label's release of "JOE" is sure to be a breakthrough in the stagnant state of Decca audition releases, and will satisfy both beginners and hard-core enthusiasts alike. First of all, the first 15 tracks include "JOE POPE'S DECCAGONE SINGLE MASTER". This is the first direct recording from the DECCAGONE master, which is regarded by many enthusiasts as the best in terms of sound quality even in the CD era. The first difference is the order of the tracks, which is different from the order in which the DECCAGONE singles were released, and this is the order in which the tracks were actually played in the sessions. Although expert research and interviews with Pete Best have now confirmed that the audition took place only on January 1, 1962, there used to be a theory that the session took place over several days, and that this theory was based on the uneven balance of the recordings on each track. The theory was based on the uneven balance of each track. Pete Best's testimony indicates that the session was conducted with playback of the two-track mono equipment, but the break seems to be a break after the first through the sixth songs were played. It seems that Paul's bass volume was gradually increased during playback, and the bass was recorded slightly overloaded on "SEPTEMBER IN THE RAIN," so the bass fader was turned down on tracks 7 through 11, the resumes after playback, and now the bass is almost completely turned off. The bass fader was lowered on tracks 7 through 11, and the bass was now almost completely turned off. After the break again, the songs were recorded with the best balance in the session from the 12th song onward. Because of the limited time of the session, it seems that retakes of the songs that were recorded with the bass off were not allowed. The ending of each song is not a fade-out but a cut-out, which is different from what you can hear on the YD CD. This is not only for the purpose of recording the master tape as it is, but also to provide a valuable glimpse of the day as a document. For example, the guitar obbligato played at the end of "To Know Her Is To Love Her" can be heard all the way through, and in "Sure To Fall," the drum sound at the end can be clearly heard! The sound of Pete Best dropping his sticks on the floor immediately after the ending of "Love of the Loved" and the members joking around after the performance of "Hello Little Girl" are also clearly audible. The sound quality is also the best of the 15-track Decca audition editions available today, with the crystal clear highs and earth-shattering bass frequencies familiar from the original DECCAGONE single. Incidentally, the five Decca tracks officially released on Anthology 1 were also EQ'd/remastered from this generation's masters. The latter half of the album contains the "Circuit Record LP Master" for those who prefer to listen to Decca in the familiar order of the classic THE DECCA TAPES album. The order of the songs is the same as that of THE DECCA TAPES, starting with Paul's "LIKE DREAMERS DO", which has been the standard order for a long time, and many people are probably more familiar with this order. Since it is not a trick to only rearrange the first half of the JOE POPE MASTER, the second half recorded in the order of the CIRCUIT LP has been carefully folded down from the pseudo-stereo analog tape that served as the master for the YD CD, and thoroughly cleaned of any soreness and blemishes. This is the original version. Although it is a bit lower in terms of generation than the first half, this is the sound quality that enthusiasts have long been accustomed to hearing on the YD disc, and of course the fast tape speed has been restored to the actual speed of the performance. Compared to the natural sound of JOE POPE MASTER in the first half of the album, the sound quality of this album is a bit more treble-oriented and hardened, which may be said to be suitable for younger listeners. As described above, "HISTORICAL DECCA AUDITION TAPE" is definitely a title that can be positioned as a new definitive Decca source that has not been upgraded for a long time. MASTERS 01. Money 02.
