This is another superb sound quality 2CD recording of the Cream reunion concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2005. This is a complete stereo audience recording of the second day of the concert in the best possible sound quality. As I mentioned in my review of the first day concert, this concert was a dream come true after 37 years. All of them were over 60 years old, and the all-powerful power that once swept everything away was a shadow of its former self, and the improvisations were shorter, but there was a seasoned flavor added here. All three played different models of instruments from their Cream days, and they brought out the best of the songs with techniques that were the culmination of their careers, and they mesmerized the audience. Clapton was expected to play the same Gibson guitars as in his Cream days, but he easily defied such expectations and played only his signature Stratocaster, which he loved at the time. The volume was appropriate, and the instruments were different from those of the cream era. The volume was appropriate, and the instruments were different from those used in the Cream days, thus creating the "flavor" of each member in 2005. All the songs were well rehearsed, and the set list included ideas. Most notably, the band played Outside Woman Blues and Pressed Rat And Warthog, which had never been played live during the Cream era, as well as Stormy Monday, a blues that had been played on the club circuit before Cream's formation. The former breakup was due to a feud between Jack and Ginger, but the two never got along offstage during this concert (although they did go back to being dogs and monkeys during a later performance in New York City). (They did not get along offstage during the New York show, but they did get back together again during the New York show. ) There was also a report that Clapton sat offstage during Ginger's drum solo, "Toad," with his daughter, who was still small at the time, on his lap. It was a happy concert, with all three of them playing happily and without any rancor. Jack never returned and Ginger also disappeared from the stage. Now it is no longer possible to have a Cream reunion. I am amazed that they were able to make it happen at this time. Cream has left its mark in the history of rock music, and this concert will surely be etched in the history of rock music as well.
