The "DIAMOND DOGS TOUR" rehearsal album is now available. This is the best of the best. This album was recorded in Port Chester on June 8, 1974. DIAMOND DOGS TOUR" started on June 14 in Montreal, and this rehearsal was held about a week before the start of the tour. Rehearsals for this tour are said to have taken place over a six-day period from April to June, and were concentrated in Port Chester over three days from "June 8-10. This film was recorded on the first day of the final rehearsal. Rehearsals are so valuable that it is a blessing to be able to listen to them, but the sound on this album is so wonderful that it belies the preciousness of the rehearsals. According to one theory, it was recorded on a boombox for playback purposes by a person involved, and the sound is crystal clear. Although there is a sense of space peculiar to microphone recordings, the contours of the dancing performances and singing voices are clearly etched in a silence that is different from that of a concert site. Moreover, this is the best of the best. We have been introducing traditional recordings of the best quality under the supervision of overseas Bowie researchers, and this is one of them. This is one of them. It is the clearest and neatest master among the many gennies that have been available so far. Rehearsals with this sound are wonderful. Rehearsals can range from rehearsal of songs to rehearsal of the actual performance, but with this work, each song is in your head, but not fully memorized. Roughly, we play the songs in the order in which they will be performed, but we stop in the middle of some songs to check them over and over again. The live album "TORONTO 1974 AFTERNOON SHOW" from the third show of the "DIAMOND DOGS TOUR" also appeared, but compared to that, this work is a rehearsal of the beginning and end of the show. To be more specific, the first half of this work is from the beginning of the show to the second song "Moonage Daydream" to the eighth song "Cracked Actor". The second half is from the 14th song "Diamond Dogs" to the encore "The Jean Genie". And the contents are extremely rare. The performance was still fresh and youthful, and Bowie's voice was so young! Although it was not the same as the vigorous performance, his vocalization was superb, and the performance extended beautifully all the way to the end. And the mood. Bowie is not only practicing his own songs, but he is also the stage manager of the show. He relentlessly repeats new songs like "Diamond Dogs" and "Big Brother" to bring them closer to the sound in his head, and he sends instructions to the dancers and lighting crew (even the playback rewind sound in "Diamond Dogs#2" is realistic and interesting). Perhaps it is because the first day of the tour is only a week away, or perhaps it is because of his perfectionist nature, but he is so serious that there is no sense of lassitude or congeniality. The mood of the band was a bit tense, but it was as tense as the actual performance (although the mood was different). In 1974, Bowie was about to take the next step forward after breaking away from the charismatic "Ziggy Stardust" of the past. This is a piece that allows us to witness the rehearsals of Bowie's new world as he was about to embark on this journey with superb sound.
