We are pleased to offer a lineup of upgraded versions of rare television footage of Delaney & Bonnie & Friends during Clapton's tenure. Clapton, a superstar, was attracted by the earthy and soulful musicality of the unknown band that fronted Blind Faith and the family-like bonds among the band members, and he gave up his own status to join Delaney & Bonnie & Friends as a sideman. Clapton, a white man born in England, found in this band the essence of white soul and white blues that he needed to learn in the home of the blues, and this was the time when he took on the "big challenge" all by himself. In this band, Clapton was actively encouraged to "sing" by Delaney Bramlett, who taught him not only how to sing but also how to write songs. History has proven that this was a milestone for Clapton, who later became Derek & The Dominos and a solo artist. Although Clapton's career was not very active, it was a period of training in the real world, which he entered alone. We are pleased to present the best live recordings of Delaney & Bonnie & Friends from this period! This is the best soundboard recording of Delaney & Bonnie & Friends from that period. This show took place at a time when Clapton had just finished recording his first solo album backed by Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. Clapton was happy with the results of his first solo album, and he was more than happy to take the stage at the Fillmore to back up his band. Clapton was the only guitarist on the side of the band. Clapton's vocal numbers increased to two songs, "I Don't Know Why" and "Crossroads," compared to the 1969 tour. Delaney pushed him to add more vocal numbers as a favor to him. The guitar solos on both songs are excellent, but Clapton's playing is also brilliant on the other songs supporting Delaney. Since Clapton was the only lead guitarist on the album, his tasteful obbligato and solos are immediately recognizable. Clapton also began to use that "brownie" during this period. He used it on his solo album and must have liked its tone. Delaboni's numbers also have a pop aspect, including catchy melodies and chord development, and it is clear that such a style also had a great influence on Clapton's later original songs. Some Clapton fans tend to disregard this band because it was a period when Clapton was not active as a leader, but I hope that you can once again feel the essence of the blue-eyed soul that Clapton was trying to master from this album. The taste he honed here gave birth to the "LAYLA" album. Please listen to Clapton's playing, which still emits a dazzling brilliance, even though he had been playing in the shadows.
