Swallow the Sun is a Finnish melodic death metal band. Formed in 2000. In 2003, he made his album debut with "The Morning Never Came". ``Forgive Her...'' from their second album ``Ghosts of Loss'' released in 2005 ranked 4th on the Finnish singles chart. As a result, they got a contract with Spine Farm Records and became a popular band. After releasing three albums from Spine Farm, ``Hope'' (2007), ``New Moon'' (2009), and ``Emerald Forest and the Blackbird'' (2012), he transferred to the major company Century Media. In 2019, ``When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light'' reached number one on the Finnish charts.

Now, they have released their 8th album ``Moonflowers'', their first in two years. At the beginning, I described Swallow the Sun as a "melodic death metal band," but their style is distinct from so-called "melody death." It's more epic doom metal and gothic than death metal, it's heavy, full of Scandinavian gloom. Naturally, this album is also dark enough to make you hate it. The album is so thoroughly and abnormally melancholy that guitarist Juha Ravio says, ``I hate to say this, but I hate this album. I hate the emotions it evokes, I hate what this album stands for.'' Once you listen to it, you'll immediately understand what he's trying to say. This work condenses the darkness of his heart. I feel like if I get swallowed up by this worldview, my heart will be broken. On the other hand, there are also plenty of parts where the singer sings with ease. The string and piano arrangement is so beautiful that it gives you goosebumps. The Finnish lyricism deeply pierces the hearts of Japanese people. This is a must-listen album for fans of epic doom metal, gothic metal, and Nordic metal.

The bonus disc includes a classical arrangement version with strings and piano. The beauty here is also extraordinary.
