Oblivion Protocol is a new band formed by Richard West, keyboardist of the British progressive metal band THRESHOLD. Other members include Ruud Jolie, guitarist of Dutch symphonic metal band WITHIN TEMPTATION, Simon Andersson, bassist of Swedish progressive metal band DARKWATER, and Darby Todd, live drummer of DEVIN TOWNSEND's band. Oblivion Protocol, formed by these four talented artists, has signed a contract with Atomic Fire Records and will release their debut album.

There may be some THRESHOLD fans who saw the title of this work, ``The Fall of the Shires,'' and thought, ``Huh?'' Yes, the title of their album released in 2017 is "Legends of the Shires." Richard wanted to make a sequel, but the project was abandoned due to opposition from other members. In that case, I created ``The Fall of the Shires'' as my own project. If that's the case, I'm sure there are quite a few people who are interested in the direction Oblivion Protocol is taking. This work successfully inherits THRESHOLD's progressive and dense musical direction, which has been influenced by bands such as RUSH, STEVEN WILSON, PINK FLOYD of the "Darkside of the Moon" period, and even GHOST. The melancholy British sound is a must-listen for not only THRESOLD fans, but also all progressive metal fans!
