The package for a documentary film (unreleased in Japan) that looks back on the life of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio is now on sale! Only the Japanese version includes bonus footage! !

This is the first documentary film to look back on the life of the late legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio, and will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and a special deluxe edition in Japan. The deluxe edition will include a DVD and Blu-ray as well as limited edition merchandise. In addition, in order to provide a special viewing experience for fans around the world, a total of approximately 20 minutes of unreleased/additional scenes that were not included in the main story will be included, as well as additional bonus footage only available on the Japanese version.

The film Dio: Dreamers Never Die had its world premiere at the 2022 South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. The film was then screened at over 600 movie theaters around the world as a special event last fall, and is now available on SHOWTIME.

Dio began his career as a doo-wop singer in the 1950s, before turning to rock singing and was a member of Elf and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. He later joined Black Sabbath as Ozzy Osbourne's successor, and eventually formed his own band, Dio, cementing his status as a rock star. This work details the trajectory of his astonishing success. In addition to the generous use of treasured footage and private photos that will be shown for the first time, the movie also features scenes of his close friendship with his closest musicians, family, and friends. Dio was loved by so many people as one of the true stars of the rock world. The film features celebrities who were close to Dio, including Wendy Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Glenn Hughes, Vinnie Appice, Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach, Eddie Trank, and Jack Black, speaking about his life.

Ronnie's wife, Wendy Dio, has supported Dio for many years as his manager. She also served as the executive producer of this film, and says the following: "I wanted this documentary to be complete. I wanted fans to be able to look back on Ronnie's turbulent life. I wanted to cover the good times, the bad times, and the bad times. And most of all, I wanted to show things that happened that even long-time and devoted fans may not know about. This film tells all of that right up to the very end."
The film was screened not only at the South by Southwest Film Festival mentioned above, but also at Hot Docs in Toronto, the Boston Independent Film Festival, Doc Lisboa, South Korea's Jecheon International Music Film Festival, Greece's International Film & Video Festival in Athens, and the Gimme Shelter Film Festival, also in Athens. Last October, it won the Audience Award at the In Edit International Music Documentary Film Festival held in Barcelona, ​​Spain.

The film, which was made with full support from the family, was directed by Don Urgot and Demian Fenton (whose other films include Framing John DeLorean, Believer, and Last Days Here). Producers are Don Urgot and Sheena Joyce of 9.14 Pictures, and executive producers are Wendy Dio of Niji Productions and Cathy Rivkin Daum of BMG.

Ronnie James Dio passed away from stomach cancer in 2010, but he remains one of the most influential rock artists of all time and one of the greatest vocalists of all time. He had a truly brilliant career from the 1950s to the 2000s. This documentary chronicles his rise from a supporting role in a band to a singer and songwriter. That's how he ended up fronting not one, but three world-famous rock bands. It goes without saying that these three groups, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and Dio, all had multi-platinum sales and were so popular that they could thrill arenas at their live performances. Dio is also the person who popularized the "meloic signature," which is now synonymous with hard rock/heavy metal. He is known for pursuing his dream as a rock singer and continues to influence the next generation of artists. Dio is remembered by fans around the world not only as a talented musician, but also as a kind-hearted person. That's why his fans have raised millions of dollars for cancer research through the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund.
