The 21st official Dream Theater bootleg is the making of their masterpiece 5th album ``Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory''.

Dream Theater regularly releases treasured recordings such as live performances, demos, and studio outtakes as official bootlegs in the "Lost Not Forgotten Archives" series. The 21st volume is a making-of recording of the production process of the band's fifth album, ``Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory,'' which was released in 1999 and is said to be the band's best work in history.It has been decided that it will be released in Japan on October 4th (Wednesday), two days earlier than overseas.

The band aimed to become a mainstream rock radio hit with their 1997 fourth album Falling Into Infinity, but had not been able to achieve the results they had hoped for, and decided to put their grand plan into action, having already started making demos at that time. In order to more clearly present their underlying identity as a progressive rock band, they took on the challenge of producing their first concept album. The idea was to create a dramatic and thrilling rock opera with the theme of reincarnation, an evolution of the famous song "Metropolis Part 1" from the 1992 album "Images and Words". And this work will be the decisive piece that will make them incomparable. This work can be said to be a valuable record that provides a glimpse into the process (songwriting sessions, rehearsals, outtakes, etc.) of constructing a meticulously woven story through repeated trial and error. It was previously released in limited production on his own label Ytsejam Records, but it has now been reissued with the latest mastering and new artwork. The Japanese version is a high quality Blu-spec CD2 version.
