Formed in 1986, Vanden Plas has released 10 albums since their album debut in 1994, and has firmly established themselves as one of Germany's leading progressive metal bands, combining technique and emotion.

Their 11th album in four years, ``The Empyrean Equation of the Long Lost Things,'' is an epoch-making new work after a dramatic member change! Günther Verno, the keyboard player who joined the band in 2004 and has played a major role, is replaced by Alessandro Delvecchio, who has been involved in numerous bands and projects and has become an icon in the melodic metal scene! Andy Kunz (vo), who is an original member of the band and is in charge of all the lyrics and vocal lines along with Stefan Lill (guitar), who is also responsible for composing this album, says of Al, ``I've always had a lot of respect for him.Although he didn't participate in the composing, his keyboards made the songs on the album so expressive.''He hails his great contribution to the band.

The album contains two epic songs that are over 10 minutes long, and two other songs that are over 8 minutes long, and contains a progressive worldview. This work is sure to become their signature work as they usher in a new era, as it fully demonstrates their highly artistic progressive nature, where stillness and movement coexist on a high level, compared to DREAM THEATER, etc.! A wonderful acoustic version is included as a bonus track on the Japanese edition!
