Deicide's debut album, released in 1990, was a shock. At a time when bands like Morbid Angel, Obituary, and Cannibal Corpse were debuting one after another, and a completely new genre of death metal was becoming a major trend, Deicide, who maintained a thoroughly Satanic image, stood out from the crowd. Glenn Benton, the leader in charge of bass and vocals, branded an inverted cross on his forehead. He declared, ``I will die when I turn 33, the year Christ died.'' At 56 years old, he is still active in his band, but at the time, he had such a strong evil aura that it made you think, ``Would he really take his own life?'' Their second album, ``Legion,'' released in 1992, is a masterpiece that is only 29 minutes long. It is a historical masterpiece that is still revered by enthusiasts around the world more than 30 years after its release as the ``death metal version of ``Reign in Blood.'' Although Deicide has been releasing albums fairly constantly since then, they have been silent for six years since their last release, ``Overtures of Blasphemy'' in 2018. But now, the long-awaited new album will finally be released.
This album, titled ``Banished by Sin,'' features a new addition, guitarist Taylor Nordberg, who has been active in numerous death metal bands such as Massacre and Inhuman Condition. Deicide is always Deicide. However, Glen has stated that this album is a return to the style of the 90s, so it's irresistible for fans. Purely evil and brutal. But the riffs and melodies have clear hooks and are also approachable. This is the true value of Deicide. As a Deicide fanatic, it was worth the six year wait. It's truly the return of the demon king!
