The 24th album by Týr, a folk/Viking metal band from the Faroe Islands, an autonomous territory of Denmark, is now available for the first time in Japan! It's as hot as the title "Battle Ballad"! It's an epic work that's sure to get your blood pumping when you listen to it.

Týr is a folk metal band from the Faroe Islands, an autonomous territory of Denmark. Its formation dates back to 1998. Their album debut was ``How Far to Asgaard'' in 2002. Their style, which takes Norse mythology as their theme, is often categorized as Viking metal, but their heroic musicality, which lives up to that image, has become a hot topic, especially in Europe. As a result, their third album ``Ragnarok'' in 2006 was released by the prestigious Austrian label Napalm Records. In 2013, he signed a contract with the long-established American company Metal Blade. In the live album titled ``A Night at the Nordic House'' released in 2022, he performed with an orchestra and choir from the Faroe Islands. It is still fresh in my memory that it caused a big stir.

Now, Týr's 24th album has been released here in Japan. This work is titled "Battle Ballads". The title means ``Battle Ballad,'' but the ballad I'm talking about here is not a so-called sweet pop song, but rather a secular lyrical song from medieval Europe. It's packed full of brave and epic songs that would be more appropriate to call Viking metal than folk metal. Even though it's called Viking metal, there are many different styles. In the case of Týr, the vocals also sing the melody properly, so they have a strong appeal not only to extreme metal fans but also to traditional heavy metal fans. Hot melody, thick chorus. Listening to it will definitely make your blood boil. There aren't many works on such a large scale!
