Onslaught was one of the first British thrash metal bands. Its formation dates back to 1982. Speaking of England in 1982, it was the height of hardcore punk. Onslaught also played hardcore in the early days. As they produced several demos, their musical style gradually shifted to metal. Their 1985 debut album ``Power from Hell'' is still talked about as a crossover masterpiece. Their second album, The Force, released the following year in 1986, completely shifted to thrash metal. Their third album, 1989's In Search of Sanity, was produced with the late Grim Reaper's Steve Grimmett. Although they disbanded in 1991, they revived in 2004. Starting with ``Killing Peace'' in 2007, they have continued to release albums constantly.

Onslaught has signed with Reigning Phoenix Music. Release a new album. Titled ``Origins of Aggression,'' this is a two-disc set that, as the title suggests, points to the band's roots. The first one is a re-recording of songs from the classic early albums. The second album features covers of both punk and metal bands that influenced them, such as Discharge, The Exploited, GBH, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest. Guest appearances include Cy Keeler, vocalist from ``The Force,'' Jason McMaster (Watchtower, Dangerous Toys), and Shingo Otani (United)! Mastering was done by master Jacob Hansen. A must-listen if you like thrash metal, hardcore punk, and crossover!
