Formed in the mid-1990s in Volos, a city in central Greece, led by Kyriakos Balanos (G.Key), the band released two demos, contributed songs to the omnibus album Fire And Steel 2, and continued to perform well, performing live and festivals in Greece, but the band disbanded in 2001. However, 17 years later, in 2018, Kyriakos reunited SILENT WINTER with a new system. The new singer, Mike Rivas, is a talented high-tone singer who has been in many bands, including serving as Timo Tolkki's tour singer since 2017, and is making a great contribution to the revival of SILENT WINTER. In June 2018, the band released a mini-album containing 6 songs called "The War Is Here", which received positive reviews all over the world, and the following year, in 2019, they released their long-awaited first full-length album "The Circles Of Hell" and made a big leap forward. After that, he released singles such as “NightFall” and “Holy Land Of Fire And Ice” on digital distribution, and in 2021, he further refined his brave, magnificent, speedy and dramatic power metal sound and released his latest work “Empire Of Sins”, which is his 2nd album! Singer Mike Rivas' emotional high tones, reminiscent of Michael Kiske, are sure to appeal to all German metal fans. It is a classic piece of exciting melodic power metal. The album includes a metal cover of pop star Belinda Carlyle's hit song "Leave A Light On", as well as two singles released in 2020 (Nightfall is a 2021 re-recording version) as bonus tracks on the Japanese version!
