The third chapter of the revival of the legendary German black metal duo Mystic Circle! A conceptual masterpiece with a witch hunt theme that mixes old school death/black, 80's traditional heavy metal, and horror movie soundtracks!

Mystic Circle, one of the pioneers of German black metal. Its formation dates back to 1992. After releasing several demos, they made their debut album in 1996 with ``Morgenröte - Der Schrei nach Finsternis''. Their style followed the format of extreme metal + soprano vocals + symphonic arrangement created by Cradle of Filth, and they gained great popularity. After that, they continued to release albums at a very rapid pace, including ``Drachenblut'' (1998), ``Infernal Satanic Verses'' (1999), ``The Great Beast'' (2001), ``Damien'' (2002), ``Open the Gates of Hell'' (2003), and ``The Bloody Path of God'' (2006), but suddenly disbanded in 2007. Its existence was legendary.
In 2021, Mystic Cirlce was suddenly revived by original members A. Blackwar and Beelzebub. In 2022, they released "Mystic Circle" and achieved the remarkable feat of reaching number 78 on the German album chart. The following year, in 2013, they released "Erzdämon", and it is still fresh in my memory that they excited fans with a sound reminiscent of their 90's works.
Their new album, ``Hexenbrand 1486,'' is now available. Just as they say, "More serious, more reverent, more authentic," this is a rich album that seems to sum up their career. The album's central theme is Malleus Maleficarum, an infamous witch-hunting book written in Speyer, Germany in 1486, and it also includes a song about the insane priest Heinrich Kramer. As frontman Beelzebub says, this album is a scathing critique of the church system and a requiem for persecuted women.
In terms of sound, it is an organic fusion of old school death/black metal, 80's traditional heavy metal, and synth wave reminiscent of horror movie soundtracks. Adding a dark horror flavor reminiscent of Dario Argento's films, they have completed their unique form of black metal. Sarah Jezebel Diva, formerly of Cradle of Filth, appears as a guest. A must-listen album for all black metal fans!
