A new album from Icelandic post-metal band SOLSTAFIR is here! This is their first release under Century Media, and their unique beautiful yet dark poetic worldview that mixes black metal and lyrical rock explodes!

SÓLSTAFIR is a post-metal band representing Iceland. Its formation dates back to 1995. Released several demos and EPs in the 90's. The sound at the time was more like black metal and Viking metal. In 2002, he made his debut album with "Í Blóði og Anda". With their second album ``Masterpiece of Bitterness'' released on Spike Farm in 2005, they approached a post-rock and post-metal sound. It became a big topic. Since then, they have continued to release ``Köld'' (2009), ``Svartir Sandar'' (2011), ``Ótta'' (2014), ``Berdreyminn'' (2017), and ``Endless Twilight of Codependent Love'' (2020), perfecting their unique post-metal line. Having firmly established their position in the international metal scene, they came to Japan in 2015.

Now, the Japanese version of SÓLSTAFIR's 8th studio album, ``Hin helga kvöl (The Holy Suffering)'' has been released. This work is the first to leave Season of Mist, which has been his home for many years, and transfer to major company Century Media. Once again, their signature sound reminiscent of the nature of Iceland explodes, moving between the dark side of black metal and lyrical rock. When many people think of SÓLSTAFIR, they think of long 10-minute songs, but this time the songs have been condensed into a compact piece, creating a work with a more tense feel. Double bass, saxophone, and female vocals also participate, adding color to the work. As the title "Sacred Agony" suggests, the dark yet beautiful poetic worldview is sure to appeal not only to extreme metal fans, but also to Scandinavian metal fans and post-rock fans!
