The latest work from Flames of Heaven, the melodic power metal band led by Italian composer/guitarist Cristiano Filippini! Their debut album ``The Force Within'' released in 2020 received high praise, and their second album ``Symphony of the Universe'', which further evolved their musicality, has now been completed. The vocalist is Marco Pastorino, who is also responsible for guitar, vocals, and songwriting in bands such as TEMPERANCE and WONDERS. A melodic power metal band formed in 2018 by Italian composer/guitarist/orchestrator Cristiano Filippini. It is characterized by a magnificent sound that combines classical music and metal, and is highly acclaimed for its unique worldview where lyricism and drama coexist. Their debut album “The Force Within”, released in 2020, has become a hot topic in the melodic metal scene in Europe and among avid music fans here in Japan for its high level of perfection, which combines detailed orchestration and catchy melodies. This work, ``Symphony of the Universe,'' is the second album completed five years later, and it is a work that combines a larger-scale sound and deeper lyricism. Many of the themes are inspired by the popular Japanese manga ``Saint Seiya'' (Masami Kurumada), and 7 of the 13 songs are built on that worldview. It depicts heroic stories and inner conflicts with magnificent melodies and majestic orchestration. Filippini, the band's central figure, is active as a composer, releasing three symphonic works from 2010 to 2015 and performing at opera houses and cathedrals, even though he has a career as a law degree student. The elaborate arrangements based on classical theory make the band's musicality even more sophisticated. The lineup includes experienced members such as Marco Pastorino, who is also in charge of guitar, songwriting, and vocals for TEMPERANCE, WONDERS, etc., as full-time vocalist, Michele Vioni (VIVALDI METAL PROJECT) on guitar, Giorgio Terenziani (ARTHEMIS) on bass, and Paolo Caridi (participating in tours with Geoff Tate, Dave Ellefson, Reb Beach, etc.) on drums. Produced by Cristiano himself, mixed and mastered by Italian metal master Simone Muraloni (DGM, RHAPSODY, TRICK OR TREAT, LABYRINTH, etc.).
