Since forming in Germany in 2001, Equilibrium has continued to pursue their own epic folk metal. With a sound that boldly fuses folk, pagan, and symphonic black metal, grand melodies, and a world view reminiscent of a mythical world, they have grown to become a representative presence in the European folk metal scene. Debuted in 2005 with "Turis Fratyr". The following ``Sagas'' received high praise for its sense of scale and dramatic arrangement. Through appearances at large festivals such as Summer Breeze and Wacken Open Air, they have established a worldwide fan base. Their style, which adhered to German lyrics but gained support across borders, had an extremely unique presence in the folk metal world. Since then, Equilibrium has continued to work with ``Rekreatur'', ``Erdentempel'', and ``Armageddon'', and has not remained within the framework of folk metal, actively introducing more modern and dark elements. In 2019's "Renegades," he made bold changes, including fully introducing English lyrics and pushing out an urban apocalypse and personal themes. Although the band has gone through many member changes, core member René Berthiaume continues to drive the band's creativity.

The Japanese version of "Equinox" released in 2025 will be released. This work is Equilibrium's most personal and honest work yet, further developing the modernization trend of recent years while reconnecting with the fantasy and storytelling spirit of their early works. René says of this work, ``A lot has happened in the past six years. We have taken a fresh look at what Equilibrium is and what it should be in the future.''
While ``Equinox'' is an extension of previous works, it also attempts to venture into new territory. He describes this work as ``If it were a movie, it would be a fusion of ``Walter Mitty'' and ``Princess Mononoke.''

Folk metal tradition, cinematic grandeur, and contemporary heaviness and introspection. ``Equinox'', in which all of these intersect, is a new creative destination that the band Equilibrium has reached at the end of a journey spanning more than 20 years. If you like European extreme metal, this is a must-listen work.
