This is the RAINBOW CONCERT, a historic concert that cannot be missed in Eric Clapton's career. As you know, this concert was held on January 13, 1973 at London's Rainbow Hall for two performances, one day and one night, Pete Townsend of The Who, a close friend of Clapton's who was in retirement due to drug addiction at the time, called on his fellow musicians and pulled Clapton out of retirement to make a comeback on the live stage. It was a miraculous concert in the sense that Clapton was backed up by a one-off band made up of an amazing lineup of one-night-only musicians. Because of the popularity of the event, this live concert was officially released in September 1973 on LP with only 6 songs, and now it has been reissued as an expanded CD with 14 songs, but this disc was also produced in the 90s from a stereo soundboard source leaked by a related party. This CD is the same 14 tracks as the official release, but it is also highly regarded because it includes "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" and "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad," which were not included on the official release. The sound quality is perfect, as this is the leaked soundboard source of the official recording. It is important to note that while the official version had almost all of the songs (except for Badge) short-edited to fit on one CD, this release contains the original, unedited versions of each song on two CDs. The Official version of Bell Bottom Blues has an overdubbed "other personnel" vocal over the back chorus, but this version has the unedited Townsend and Winwood choruses. The song on this disc is valuable in that it has the unaltered Townsend and Winwood chorus. In other words, this disc conveys the concert more realistically than the official version, which has been edited and manipulated. Generally, Clapton was in the midst of his drug addiction, and his singing and guitar playing were described as lackluster, but the front page headline of the Melody Maker, a British music newspaper that reported the concert at the time, was "GREAT, ERIC ! The front page headline of the Melody Maker, which reported the concert at the time, was "GREAT, ERIC ! It is true that the band was created in a hurry and the performance did not match up in some parts, but it was as expected. It is true that the band was hastily created, and there are some parts where the playing does not match up, but the whole performance is filled with the tasteful playing that is typical of "that Clapton". In other words, "even if he is rotten, he is still a sea bream. I would like you to see this historic concert, a passionate and tearful concert supported by friendship, once again in this disc.
