Clapton fans rejoice, as we were quick to release the superb stereo audience recordings of Eric Clapton's three Royal Albert Hall concerts in London in May. Clapton fans were delighted with this release. World-renowned taper Daspyknows went all the way to England to see (and record) Clapton, and recorded in the best possible position using the Schopes MK4 microphone, which is a masterpiece for directional and clear recordings with no distortion. The Daspyknows master was also of superb sound quality, but we have further refined and evolved it! This famous London concert hall is known for its dome-shaped sound, and even Daspyknows' superb recording had a slight hall rattle. Therefore, we have mastered the sound to reduce the hall rumblings overall, giving the impression that the performance is naturally tighter. The highlight of the first day was a drastic change in the setlist from the Japan tour held only one month earlier. The opening song was Que sera sera, a tribute to Doris Day, who passed away that day at the age of 97. This was only on the first day. Clapton, who was informed of her passing on that day, rehearsed this song during sound check and immediately played it on stage for the evening. I am imagining from here that the events of that day are linked to the 2001 album "REPTILE". The album was produced by Clapton's uncle, who had abandoned him as a child and taught him fashion, cars, music, and all the values of a man, and who had passed away. The song was a hit in 1956, when Clapton was 11 years old. It must have come on the radio, or perhaps his uncle played the record for him. Whenever he hears this song, which he learned the name of and which was imprinted on his young mind, he is reminded of his uncle from that era and everything about the family home where he lived. Clapton must have always loved this song, which was the key to the door to such memories. Doris Day, the woman singer he admired who sang it, has departed. Clapton probably wanted to express his gratitude to her at this time. Clapton is a man with such a human side. He dropped Wonderful Tonight and Cocaine, which had been concert staples, and brought back Motherless Children for the first time since 2009, replaced Layla in the acoustic set with Change the World, and added The second half of the show featured an array of rare numbers such as Tearing Us Apart, Holy Mother, and Five Long Years. The second half of the show featured rare numbers such as Tearing Us Apart, Holy Mother, and Five Long Years, and the electric version of Layla, which was only performed on the first day of the Japan tour, leaving fans in suspense. The encore was a performance of Purple Rain, a song that Clapton had admired since 1986, when he came home after watching the movie "Purple Rain" and was inspired by the afterglow of the movie to write "Holy Mother". Clapton wrote "Holy Mother" on the night he saw the Prince film "Purple Rain". That Holy Mother was also performed on this date! In Clapton's mind, this entire set list may have been connected. That is the kind of person Clapton is. Fans who saw the Japan show would not have expected such a different setlist just one month later in London. It made sense, this drastic change in the setlist. (Remastering note) *Equalization was done to reduce hall rumblings, giving the impression that the overall performance was naturally tighter.
