This is the release of the final show at Budokan on April 20, the last day of Eric Clapton's 2019 Japan Tour, using the original master provided directly by the recordist. The recording location was Arena A Block. Compared to the miraculous and super high quality recording of "Day 5" (front row recording, an absolute must-listen), it is true that there is a difference in quality, but that is because "Day 5" is just too good, and if you listen to this disc by itself, you will be fully satisfied with the high sound quality. Will Electric Layla be back on the last day? Will that change the set list? Will we hear any comments from Clapton at the end? However, in the end, the setlist included the same unplugged Layla as on the second and subsequent days, and there was no special comment from Clapton. However, considering Clapton's advanced age, fans felt that this might be his last performance in Japan. That is why 10,000 people turned out for the final show. Although we cannot foresee what will happen in the future, this is a vivid record of Clapton's last Japan concert that should be kept in mind for now. The highlight of this last date, ironically enough, is the fact that Clapton, although showing signs of fatigue, held it in check with professionalism and defended the quality of the songs to the end. The song "Pretending," which started off on a sour note and revealed some questionable singing, made me wonder what was going to happen next, but Clapton is the man. He rode the wave with his favorite song "Key to the Highway," and then he showed his true colors with a thrilling solo and deep singing on "Wanna Make Love to You," which left the audience in a roar. This song was probably the best played of the night. The phrasing of I Shot the Sheriff, while faltering towards the end of the song, was nothing short of brilliant, building up from stillness to movement. The second half of the show was also a masterstroke. The second half of the show is no slouch either, with occasional flashes of danger. Clapton is a man who defends his playing quality while battling against the deterioration of his fingers due to old age. Clapton's performance, while resisting old age, evokes the state of indifference that only old age can bring out in a performer. This is the mirror of an aging professional. On the last day of the festival, I am sure the audience will remember this performance in their hearts and minds. This is a memorable final day. I would like to keep this recording for that reason alone. I am sure there will be many more good quality recordings of this show in the future, but I urge you to collect this one as well.
