MOTT THE HOOPLE, celebrating their 50th anniversary and their first North American tour in 45 years, is proud to present their latest and finest original recordings. In 2019, the band is touring under the title "MOTT THE HOOPLE '74," including their first North American tour in 45 years. The band returned to their native England to complete all scheduled shows. The show on this album is the April 21, 2019 Birmingham show. This is its superb audience recording. First of all, let's look back at the whole picture of "MOTT THE HOOPLE '74" to get an overview of the band's activities. April 1-10: North America (8 concerts), April 17-27: UK (7 concerts) These are the 15 concerts in total. Although small in size, most of the previous MOTT THE HOOPLE events were only a few performances. The scale of the "tour" itself, which repeated day after day and night after night, had not been seen since 1974. The Birmingham show in this album was the fourth concert in the middle of the "UK" leg of the tour. This is a superb audience recording of such a show. This is the original master directly from the recording artist, and it is a masterpiece. The recording was made by a master recording artist who is well known in our store as a "British master." His character is a combination of realistic atmosphere and modern clarity. This work makes the most of this quality, and is both vivid and easy to listen to. The core of the music, which is both robust and clear, reaches straight to the listener's fingertips, and even the touch of the piano, which is played in rapid succession, is clear and crisp. Of course, the hall rumblings are also absorbed, but they do not become cloudy or muddy, which is wonderful. What is also overwhelming is the vivid sense of presence. Of course, the joy of the audience at the scene is realistic, but what is even more impressive is the performance. The details are vivid, the tones have presence, and the three-dimensionality is ultra-realistic. When I close my eyes, I can picture Ian Hunter, Morgan Fisher, and Ariel Bender on stage. It is a lush sound that brings to mind the feeling of "being there in person" at a live performance. The show, with its beautiful sound, transports you back in time to the wonderful year of 1974. Although it is not a reproduction of a specific album or show, the mood of a special show starts with the voice of the late David Bowie from the beginning of the show, and the golden repertoire from all the albums except "WILDLIFE" and "BRAIN CAPERS" is performed as if it were an unlimited number of songs. There is no more Dale Griffin or Overend Watts, but one cannot help but be reminded of the traditional masterpiece "LIVE" in both its melody and enthusiasm. What I feel especially strongly is the medley of highlights. Including "Mean Woman Blues," "Johnny B. Goode," and "You Really Got Me," which cannot be heard on "Live," the band plays a wide range of nine songs, from classics of yesteryear to standards, for about 16 minutes. And THE RANT BAND, which fills the void left by Dale and Overend, is also excellent. They have been Ian's back-up band for a long time and are ironclad. It is a live album in which you can feel every part of the ensemble as if they are naturally breathing and conversing with the three main players, and you can immerse your whole body in the music. It has been 50 years since their formation and 45 years since their breakup. This is a masterpiece of a live album that allows you to be present at the site of the tour in a clear and ultra-realistic sound. The album is a rare example of a live album that combines both at an unbelievable level.
