The Steel Wheels Tour of 1989, which announced to the world that the Rolling Stones were back on the road, was full of a fresh start, and the band's racy performance is rather fresh today. The band's racy performance is now rather fresh. In spite of this, the rear tie-up items seemed to be concentrated on the TV broadcast of Atlantic City, which had been completed at the end of the tour, and there were no items that conveyed the vitality of the stage until the tour reached the final stage. In addition, because the Stones were about to restart their career, the only venue available was the stadium, which made it difficult to produce high quality sound items. Mike Millard, who was also closed to stadiums, was still excited that his beloved Stones were back in action, so he went to the LA Memorial Coliseum to record their show. From the four shows at the Coliseum, mirrored recordings of "LOS ANGELES 1989 FINAL NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES" and "LOS ANGELES 1989 3RD NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES The first day of the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, "LOS ANGELES 1989 1st NIGHT", which was based on another taper's recording released by JEMS, has been released as well as this Millard master. NIGHT", which was based on a different taper's sound source released by JEMS, but the sound quality is much better than the Millard master. Millard, who does not like such stadiums, has made the decision to participate in this project, and his excellent work stands out again this time. The previous recording "LOS ANGELES 1989 3rd Night" was in excellent condition, and the sound image this time is close to the same. Right from the start of the concert, the sound image sounded deep, especially Mick's vocals, due to the sound level of the stadium, but it soon became well-balanced. Especially, Keith's guitar volume was increased during "Sad Sad Sad," and the power of the sound was worth listening to. The balance of the recording is exquisite, as is the case in American stadium concerts, and the sound is not distracted by the noise of the surroundings. In the case of this tour, it would not have been surprising to hear a chorus around "Ruby Tuesday," but the performance was captured well. Above all, Millard's skill in securing and recording the best position on the first day of the tour is a credit to him. In addition, the cuts that occurred mainly between songs were made up in "LOS ANGELES 1989 1st Night" to create a pseudo-complete version for this release. The only cut was at the beginning of "Jumping Jack Flash," which was not included in this release, but if you listen to the beginning of the song, you will realize how easy it is to listen to the Millard recording. By the way, the racy performance of the Steel Wheels Tour during this period is really nice to listen to. More than a month has passed since the start of the tour, and the group as a whole is enjoying the stage as the reunited Stones, free from the awkwardness of the beginning of the tour. Since they visited LA at such a great time of the year, the performance was guaranteed to be great. In fact, all four performances at the LA Memorial Coliseum were at a high level of performance, and the first publicly available Millard recording tells us that they were in great shape from the very first day. As the show progressed, Mick smiled as he asked the audience, "We're going to play a new song, what do you think?" It is still a long way to go to that imposing Atlantic City. Rock And A Hard Place" and "Mixed Emotions" were also performed in such an impressive manner. The sound quality was excellent, which made their dynamic performance even more enjoyable. On the other hand, Keith was in great form, as shown in "Sad Sad Sad" in the beginning of the show, and his good mood could be felt during his own singing corner, but it was a strange day that only one song, "Happy," was sung. This mysterious development is also typical of the first half of the tour. October 1989 PERFECT SOUND★First Time Source Disc 1 (66:49) 1. Intro/Continental Drift 2. Start Me Up 3. Bitch 4.
