"HOT OFF THE HEADS PRODUCTION" made a big splash in 2020, along with Mike Millard's original master excavation The Rolling Stones. This is the world premiere master of the Rolling Stones version. This film contains the "November 24, 1981 Chicago Concert". This is an excellent audience recording made on the middle day of the three consecutive shows in Chicago that were held as part of the "American Tour 1981. As many of you may have already noticed, Chicago in 1981 was famous for the fact that soundboard recordings were discovered for all three consecutive shows. The superb stereo soundboard album "CHICAGO 1981 2ND NIGHT" was a big hit even on the second day in Chicago. It became a very popular title that sold out immediately. So, the soundboard was released first, but "HOT OFF THE HEADS PRODUCTION" was there. This is not your average audience recording. What is most impressive is the clarity and transparency of the sound. There are two main types of recordings in this series: one is an ultra-tight recording with no reverberation, and the other is a recording in which the sound gives it a sparkle. This recording is an example of the latter, with hall ringing adding luster, thickness, and dynamism rather than zero distance. Of course, if such ringing were to become blurred or muddy, it would be a waste of time, but this is a beautiful recording with a strong and straight core, and the brilliance of the ringing can be felt with even greater clarity. If I were to add more, the spectacle of loud cheers is also exquisitely delicious. The recording absorbs the frenzy of the real scene, but instead of up-close screams, it has a three-dimensional feel like an ocean spreading out in the distance. The joy controlled by Mick's every move is lifted up as a "swell" and moves right and left across the wide excess. During "You Can't Always Get What You Want," Mick introduced the band members and encouraged the audience. This sense of the scene cannot be found on a soundboard, and the sense of balance between the performance and singing through the middle and the excitement cannot be found on a mediocre audience recording. It is a great experience that can only be had with the beautiful recordings of "Hot Off The Heads Production. The show depicted with such sound is also wonderful. In fact, this day is also known for its great performances, and the tight ensemble is really sprightly. Of course, the band is not perfect from corner to corner as in the occasion, and there is an occurrence early on in "Shattered" where Mick and the band don't mesh. But that's about the only disruption. No fixed-set mid-set slumps occur, and the nimble performance carries through the full show without the slightest slack.
