Mike Millard's recordings of The Who's 1980 LA shows have all been of the highest quality, and now the final date of the 1980 LA shows is finally available. The Who were at the height of their popularity in the U.S. at the time, and as a result, they played a total of seven shows in LA, including five nights at the Memorial Sports Arena and two nights at the LA Forum. What is consistently conveyed from these recordings is that this was the peak of The Who's live performances when Kenny Jones was in the band. The audience in LA was excited on all days, and the group's performance was also hot in response. The group's performance was also very hot in response. Just when it looked as if the performance was going to go downhill, John saved the day by singing "Twist And Shout" without any problems. Just listening to this free-flowing scene, I am convinced that LA 1980 was the peak of the Kenny Jones era of The Who.
